Justin Bieber ends on Oscar nomination for ‘Never Say Never’ song

Okay, so this news really should not come as too much of a shock — the Academy Awards decided to snub Justin Bieber in the field of Best Original Song for “Never Say Never.” At one point, the song was actually on the list for selection, but it did not end up making the final cut.

So why the lack of surprise? It’s not so much a knock on Bieber as it is a trend by the Academy to leave out songs that oftentimes skew to primarily a younger audience. Although songs from both “Toy Story 3″ and “Tangled” ended up getting a nomination Tuesday morning, these movies have shown to have more crossover appeal for parents and children. “The Karate Kid,” meanwhile, was predominently popular among young boys.

Of course, Bieber could still grab a nomination here in 2012 if he receives some sort of original song for his “Never Say Never” movie — which hits theaters on February 11.
